The Non-Runners Running Club

Alright! I've done it. I am officially a non-runner runner. Confusing? That's fine. I don't get it either. I don't get/understand why I've committed 3 mornings a week to running, but I guess I've done crazier things in my life. :)

My roommate Tara and her crazy coworkers decided to start a non-runners running club. She asked me to join on Tuesday so I said yes. But only if we can call ourselves, with all due respect - The Clydesdales.

You see... we're not your typical skinny-minny runners. However, we are hot. Dang hot. I'll be tracking our progress as we continue our 5k and beyond journey with our weekly "practices" at Liberty Park.

Our goal is to run a 5k some time this summer. We're starting our slow by a normal warm up and then doing interval running for 20-30 minutes for a few weeks, and then building up from there. Enjoy the tales of the Clydesdales!

Day 1
Today was great. We were at Liberty Park @ 6:30 a.m. sharp. Me, DeeDee and Tara in our gloves and beanies. One of Tara's arch nemesis (nemeses?) jogged by and made us give a little chuckle. I wanted to say hi to him (some of you may know a certain HASS Senator on ASUSU Executive Council ith us on '03-'04...) I wanted to say hi... we proceded to run. :)

All 3 of us did a GREAT job at our 1 minute on/1.4 minute walk for 20 minutes/1.5 miles. I was sweating like a banchee (can banchees sweat?!) even in the 20 degree weather. I love the mornings!

Ashley! I was blog browsing and came across yours via Kate's via Nick's...or something like that.

Anyway, I wish I lived in Salt Lake so I could join your club...I've always wanted to be a runner, but I'm just not. :-)

Also, I was not aware that Tara and I had the same nemesis!

Hope things are great! Check out my blog if you're interested bethanyisrad.blogspot.com

Dear you,

I would like to join your club. Would you be agreeable? I promise to be terrible at running and really good at making you feel better about YOUR running skills. Please let me know if you will accept another Clydesdale.

Sincerely,
Reno.

So... I know I am terrible and it has taken me forever to reply to the comment you left on my blog..... but here it is... my reply :) I am SO very glad that we have blogs! I seriously check yours for updates all the time. I love to keep up on your life:) I feel terrible that we didn't ever get to hang out while I lived there. I do however want to tell you how amazing I think that you are. I so envy your determination and drive with life. I wish I was more like that. Oh well.... but it does look like you are doing well. Things here is Texas are good. We are still just pluggin along. Well I hope to hear from you soon!!! I sure do miss ya!

WHAT!!! YOU SAW... HIM??!! Did he have curly hair? I think I saw him at Ikea the other day, but then I didn't want to say anything. Classic.

You are amazing. I have a hard time running in the morning, especially when it is cold. I like my bed too much. You are inspirational. And it was so good to run into you last weekend! I don't see you enough. When can we hang out next???
