Clydesdales Update

Hooray! Week 4

I missed Week 3, sorry (it was finals and I wasn't really a normal person that week... so I didn't join in the fun!).

But this past Week 4 was great. Tuesday I didn't have much of a problem, but man oh man, Thursday... I don't recommend heavy leg workouts the day before you know you're running. It was pure torture. All three of us, myself, Dee Dee and Tara, had a hard time because of the intense leg workouts on Wednesday. But, we pushed through and even went further than we have yet. And the journey continues...

Here is a list of a few things I've learned to appreciate on our morning runs...

1) I don't know if I appreciate that my body wakes up at 6 a.m. every day, even on Saturdays and Sundays when I don't need... But, I'm thankful for that I guess. :)

2) The ducks are having babies!!!

There are little, fluffly ducks waddling all over the park and they're so darn cute! Tara still doesn't like birds, so I haven't dared try to get too close to them yet for fear of the mamma duck retaliating.

3) DOGS!

I love dogs, and there are a few of the same people we see each morning who have their dogs with them and it makes me happy.

4) Thursday was the first day I spoke complete sentences whilst running, instead of random spurts in between sucking big gulps of air. Awesome!

5) The Cute Asian Couple: there is this cute, old Asian couple that goes walking every morning, shuffling along and holding hands with ear-to-ear smiles on and they make me happy!!

7) Previous Coworkers: a few weeks ago I ran into a former co-worker, James Rabdau, from The Summit Group at the Park. Ya for seeing random people at 6:30 in the morning!

8) The Double Harness

ok, so maybe this is a little too much for some of you, but that's ok, I don't really care (but, I know my family members will get a kick out of this...). The girls out there will know the special joys of being "well endowed" and wearing two bras while working out. I always have worn two, but now it's a really good thing to have two on to keep things in... ;)

9) My pink Adidas Supernova Running Jacket: I'm finally getting the use out of this thing that I intended 2 years ago... it's bright pink, has armpit vents! AND (my favorite feature) small holes to wind my iPod earphones up through the pocket to the collar and into my anxiously-awaiting little ears...

10) MUSIC: many of you know I cannot live without music. Some things just don't change. So, thanks to my laptop Stella and my iPod (I haven't named him yet, though...) I have a constant concert of fabulous sounds to keep us company.

Until next time... :)

Ode to Giulia

Class of 2008

I had the chance to fly home for a quick trip for my friend's baby blessing this weekend. Congrats to the Hardy Family and their new addition, Hazel. She's beautiful! It's times like these that make me appreciate the great family friends I have and reminiscing of the good 'old days whilst babies are crying and playing tennis on the Wii. :)

Also, a few months ago I did my sister's high school graduation announcements, so I've included a copy of them below. Isn't she cute?! I took her Senior photos in September or October last year and that was a BLAST.

Congrats Giulia!

Ambidextrous

Seriously? Seriously.

Two days ago I was waiting at the light at 400 South and 700 East and what do my wondering eyes behold?

An older gentleman rollin' down the street on his pimped out Mongoose bicycle, business slacks, smokin' a cigarette! I seriously had to do a double take and make sure my eyes really were seeing 20/20. Good thing that Lasik from 3 years ago is still working because I really didn't believe it.

First off, a 45-ish year old supposedly grown man should NOT be riding a pimped out Mongoose. My brothers used to ride those during their BMX races growing up. Wierd.

Second of all... smoking while riding?! That's a pedestrian, driver AND personal health risk! If you're going to smoke, at least do it stationary.

I'm just sayin...

The Runners: Week 2

This week was great! Tuesday was a little hard to wake up, but Thursday wasn't too bad. True to Salt Lake's weather patterns - we ran in the ran and almost snow on Thursday morning. I had never run in the rain before and it was quite exhilirating! A little chilly, and once I got used to the rain falling in my eyes and not being able to see sometimes, I was great.

Yay for Week 2!!!

The Non-Runners Running Club

Alright! I've done it. I am officially a non-runner runner. Confusing? That's fine. I don't get it either. I don't get/understand why I've committed 3 mornings a week to running, but I guess I've done crazier things in my life. :)

My roommate Tara and her crazy coworkers decided to start a non-runners running club. She asked me to join on Tuesday so I said yes. But only if we can call ourselves, with all due respect - The Clydesdales.

You see... we're not your typical skinny-minny runners. However, we are hot. Dang hot. I'll be tracking our progress as we continue our 5k and beyond journey with our weekly "practices" at Liberty Park.

Our goal is to run a 5k some time this summer. We're starting our slow by a normal warm up and then doing interval running for 20-30 minutes for a few weeks, and then building up from there. Enjoy the tales of the Clydesdales!

Day 1
Today was great. We were at Liberty Park @ 6:30 a.m. sharp. Me, DeeDee and Tara in our gloves and beanies. One of Tara's arch nemesis (nemeses?) jogged by and made us give a little chuckle. I wanted to say hi to him (some of you may know a certain HASS Senator on ASUSU Executive Council ith us on '03-'04...) I wanted to say hi... we proceded to run. :)

All 3 of us did a GREAT job at our 1 minute on/1.4 minute walk for 20 minutes/1.5 miles. I was sweating like a banchee (can banchees sweat?!) even in the 20 degree weather. I love the mornings!

Lipgloss and Vicki's

A Little R&R with My Boys at Victoria's Secret

As most of you know, I have a slight addiction to lipgloss. My roommate Tara gave me my first dose of the Victoria's Secret drug, a.k.a. Lipgloss about 3 years ago. I've been hooked ever since.

Well, this Saturday I needed to get a new one with the $5 left on my V.C./Vicki's Christmas gift certificate from my 16-year-old sister Jenette. I walk in the store at The Gateway and what do my eyes behold but very own favorite BYU zoobies, Henderson-ites and my brother's roommates: Jordan Hafen, Mark Henderson and Hot Beau (sorry, I don't know Beau's last name - let alone if I've spelled his first name correctly, but I think hot Beau suits him well). :)

YES. You heard me right. The boys are in Victoria's Secret "innocently looking at cologne". They really were just looking at the men's Too Sexy cologne, but still... it was just too funny. Please enjoy our photo-opp below. :) This made my day!
